The artists did an incredible job re-creating my paintings at an epic scale. The success and quality of each piece depends upon the speed with which the marks are placed, because that momentum portrays a variety of weather patterns and emotions. I was able to communicate this with the artists and they thoroughly understood and captured an emotive quality that is pivotal to the work. We had a wonderful studio visit discussing indirect color layering specific to oil painting traditions and how to re-create luminosity with very different materials. Capturing this feeling on sharks tooth muslin was quite a feat! There was a great deal of care applied to each color, composition, and the overall movement of the works.
Communication was wonderful and visiting their studio was a great pleasure. I had very few edits throughout the process, but the slight changes requested were understood and executed beautifully and swiftly. The painters I worked with are masters at their field and a joy to spend time with. It was fantastic to work with them on magnifying my paintings for the ballet.

Studios for over 20 years. Scenic artistry requires an eye for scale, an ability to put emotion on canvas, and an understanding of how color and light interact. The
way this team layers colors and builds up a painted piece gives every
canvas a depth and richness that is unmatched by anything printed.
They have tremendous knowledge of materials and how they react, not
only as they work with them, but also for a project’s long-term
requirements. Scenic Art Studios is also a team of inventors – all of the unique
and strange pieces we have brought to them over the years have been

In all my time working with this team, they have never disappointed,
and have only exceeded my expectations. As they make something into a
larger piece, they look at my art and add another level of artistry to
the project – a beautiful brush stroke, some glazing to give the color
more depth, the perfect bit of reflected light in just the right hue.
They always interpret the source art beautifully and give it so much
more as they create their final product. I think my favorite part of
working with this team is knowing I am not alone in a project.
